There Is a Better Way:
Save North Bay,

The pristine waters of the North Bay are about to be dredged for an industrial service dock and converted into a shipping channel, unless we act now.

Yntegra has proposed plans to dredge in the North Bay to service an industrial back-of-house facility for their proposed Rosewood resort. Here's what that could look like. This video contains computer‑generated conceptual renderings informed by plans made publicly available by Yntegra/Sampson Cay Bahamas Limited. For illustrative purposes only and is not a depiction of Yntegra's actual proposed facilities. The simulations are based on the maps from the project's Environmental Management Plan and can be found on Yntegra’s website: www.sampsoncayproject.com/documents/

What Yntegra's North Bay Plan Would Involve:

  • Dredging through healthy seagrass, coral habitats and a conch nursery
  • A massive seawall that would permanently alter tidal flows in the bay
  • Industrial ships passing through recreational areas within 200 feet of beaches
  • Irreversible transformation of a fragile marine ecosystem

What They're Telling You

Yntegra claims this industrial dock and industrial back-of-house in the North Bay is the only way to service their proposed Rosewood resort. They claim the areas of the North Bay that they intend to dredge are barren and devoid of marine life. They claim there's no alternative.

The Solution

A better way forward: Move the industrial dock and back-of-house to the south end of Sampson Cay where deep water already exists, where neighboring islands already receive their supplies and where Yntegra is planning to dredge two deep-water marinas for mega yachts.

Move the Industrial Dock and Back-of-House South: A Win for Everyone

wave

There's already deep-water access at the south end of Sampson Cay plus Yntegra already plans to excavate and dredge 10 acres of coastal and wetland habitat to create two superyacht marinas. Moving the supply dock and and back-of-house facilities from the North Bay to the south would:

  • Eliminate the need to dredge in the North Bay
  • Remove the need for a massive, restrictive seawall
  • Keep fuel ships away from healthy marine habitats, pristine beaches and recreational areas
  • Allow the Rosewood resort to be serviced without unnecessary environmental destruction

It is simply a better plan. One that proves progress and preservation can coexist.

Why This Matters to Everyone

wave

We believe development doesn’t justify destroying what makes a place special. Exuma's economy depends on its natural beauty. Tourism, fishing, and marine recreation all rely on healthy waters. What happens in North Bay sets a precedent for the entire Bahamian archipelago.

Right now, local businesses and tour operators use the North Bay for their business operations. Every snorkeling trip, dive, every peaceful morning exploring these waters happens because this bay is pristine and safe.

Turtlegrass Resort’s entire concept depends on the North Bay remaining what it is: crystal-clear water, thriving seagrass beds, untouched beauty - which is why we’ve had to put our eco-resort development on hold in the face of this threat.

We refuse to accept that progress means sacrificing the livelihoods of people who were here first, building businesses that actually celebrate what makes Exuma special.

Progress Doesn't Have to Destroy What Makes Exuma Special

Tell Yntegra and Rosewood that there's a better way. Sign the petition calling on the Government to halt further environmental clearance and construction activities for this project.

North Bay doesn't have to be destroyed for progress. Tell Yntegra to move the dock and industrial facilities.
